Wald Nektar: Bottle Design

The purpose of this project was to explore hand-lettering and custom typography using Victorian inspiration. During the Victorian era there was a great fascination with German folklore and storytelling. The forbidden Black Forest in southwestern Germany was the source of many of the mystical stories. My idea for Wald Nektar, meaning Forest Nectar, was to create that feeling of enchantment and mystery through the bottle's design. The thorn-like flourishes on each letter resemble the idea of the beautiful yet dangerous forest, while the line-work surrounding the lettering is used to draw the viewer in just as the Black Forest does to its many travelers in the stories.
